The Other Side is an atmospheric, heavily textured piece with a feeling of somewhere wild, weathered and slightly unknown.
Soft greys, chalky whites and muted blues sit against deeper layers of charcoal, earth and warm rust. There are suggestions of land, water and something distant, but nothing is quite defined. I like that it leaves you to decide what you’re looking at and perhaps what lies beyond it.
There’s a quietness to this painting, but strength too. For me, it has that feeling of coming through something and finally being able to see the other side.
An earthy, understated original that changes beautifully with the light, revealing the texture and layers across the surface.
